Typical aerospace vehicle analysis requires consideration of multiple mass cases involving different structural mass, payloads, fuel conditions and environmental conditions. MSC Nastran 2018 has a new MMC capability, also known as MASSSET, that allows for specifying mass increments to construct additional mass configurations and conduct the analysis in a single run. Prior to MSC Nastran V2018 external superelements could only be created in linear solutions 101 thru 112 and then assembled into linear solutions 101 thru 112. This was a two step process. With MSC Nastran V2018 the external superelement capability was extended to allow for superelement creation as well as assembly in solution 400. The two step process is further enhanced, to an optional three step process, by allowing for a restart of the reduction run in order to obtain data recovery of the external superelement after the assembly run has completed.
